Hello internet! Connor, Owner of Parkside CrossFit here....
A thought entered my mind today, and I wanted to expand on it.
This is the thought: "The most important thing you can do in the gym is to show up."
It's not supplements, or intensity, or muscle confusion. It is literally just going.
Being successful in the gym is as simple as doing the minimum amount over a long period of time.
Think about that again: doing the minimum over a long period of time. That is the key to success. Anything above the minimum is a bonus!
The key is not 6 times a week for 2 hours a day... for 6 weeks and then nothing.
You can't make up for lost time, and that's what many people try to do, and they almost always fail. (Can't actually think of someone who did that successfully).
You are much, much better off going 1-2x/week for 15 years. Is that ideal? Probably not. Ideal is probably 3-5x/week, depending on your training advancement, age, and lifestyle factors.
BUT, I have literally seen people TRANSFORM in 1-2x/week for 5 years. And I mean TRANSFORM. And I have seen PLENTY of people train 6-7x/week for 8 weeks and get absolutely nothing, and then quit, and ensure they don't get results.
If you attend an open gym with no coaching and no workout planning, showing up is the first step. Then you have to figure out how to warm up, what to do - sets, reps, exercises, etc - and then learn on your own how to do the exercises you choose safely. Spolier: walk into an LA fitness... almost nothing is done safely by anyone.
At our gym, showing up is the final step to winning.
When you show up at our gym, you won. It's the final step, instead of the beginning.
You don't have to think about anything else.
We have a plan made just for you, as you are on that particular day.
We teach you what to do and how to do it safely, and we keep the time reasonable - less than 1 hour.
Just show up a few days per week, and you will be successful.
You will meet like minded friends. You will cure all kinds of aches and pains. You will have more energy and be more productive at work and at home.
Just show up.
We will take care of the rest.
